KEMORA
Pam Hall, Marcia Griffiths, Judy Mowatt, JC Lodge, Nadine Sutherland and Chevelle Franklyn . They are among the many female reggae artistes that managed to make their mark in a male dominated reggae industry. And while there seems to be a flurry of new females emerging on the scene today, only the strong, talented and the more determined will be able to survive. Count Kemora among them. The talent 23 year old was spotted while doing Karaoke in the Portmore Community of St. Catherine Jamaica and has improved her craft leaps and bounds since that 2003 night.
Her debut single 'My Guy (Not tonight)' got the attention she needed, but it was her second duet with Blacka Ranks 'Want You' (Produced by Richard 'Ritchie B' Burgess) that radio fell in love with. But her best is yet to come. The smooth sexy crooner reggae balladeer, who admires Beres Hammond and Tanya Stevens among others, will score solid marks for her rendition of Gabrielle's 'Rise'. Another duet with Blacka Ranks, 'Hot In Here' and 'Touch Me All Over' in tandem with Vigor will no doubt push her name to the forefront.
The hard working songwriter/singer does all her backing vocals on her tracks and also provides this excellent service for her stablemates. Already in the works is another combo with DJ Marco Bran, who has been wanting to record with her since he first hard heard her doing backup for his friend Harmony. Kemora will be spending most of 2005 in the studio laying the ground work for her career which already has success stamped all over it. Keep track of her career right here on www.bmrecords.com
